FC Bayern Munich narrowly escaped with a draw in the first leg to RB Salzburg. The Bavarians left it late to steal a valuable point that could have placed them in a dangerous position ahead of the second.

In a bid to avoid a repeat of the disaster at Salzburg in Munich, head coach Julian Nagglesman had a less offensive game plan as Bayern Munich were held to a 1-1 to visiting Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Visitor Salzburg would have played at the Allianz Arena with a one-goal cushion if not for Kingsley Coman 90th minute equaliser. However, the Austrians still can progress to the next round ahead of the German Bundesliga giants.

Match Preview and Prediction

Host Bayern Munich returned from a frustrating draw to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last weekend. Niklas Süle put the host ahead in the 18th minute, but Thomas Muller’s own goal cancelled the Bavarian’s well-deserved leads.

In the game against Bayer Leverkusen, head coach Julian Nagglesman was bent on playing safe with his best legs to avoid problems related to injuries ahead of the all-important tie with Salzburg on Tuesday.

Kingsley Coman’s 90th-minute goal gave the Bavarians renewed hope ahead of the Round of 16-second leg clash at the Allianz Arena, even though Bayern Munich appears to have the brightest chance.

Kingsley Coman was very impressive for the entirety of the game, even as Sven Ulreich made outstanding saves to deny a rampaging Salzburg side from scoring more goals in front of their home fans.

RB Salzburg smashed Altach 4-0 during the weekend as preparations for the clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday. 20-year-old Chukwubuike Adamu scored in the 21st minute for Salzburg.

The Austrian would face Julian Nagglesman’s strongest side even as Bayern Munich aimed to avoid a repeat of last year’s blunder, which prevented them from successfully defending the title they won the previous year.

In the first leg, Chukwubuike Adamu was the star player for Salzburg, along with other places like Noah Okafor, Brenden Aaronson and goalkeeper Philipp Köhn also made incredible saves to deny Lewandowski from finding the back of the net.

Score Prediction 2-1
