FC Barcelona are working towards strengthening their squad for next season following their disappointing performance in the Champions League. The Catalan club has already identified players they would pursue in the new year.
Barca made some signings which included players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Franck Kessie. However, the expectations of the club are yet to be attained.
According to Sport (h/t Fichajes), Barcelona has identified three players (Kanté, Íñigo Martínez, and Moukoko) in the summer transfer window in 2023. Considering that the club is expected to have some departures, it is in the best interest to bring reinforcement to the team.
The three players Barcelona wants to sign in 2023
N’Golo Kanté is one of the high-profile players on the list of free agents. The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, and there’s no indication he would renew with Chelsea.
Kanté is one of the best midfielders in world football who could bring his wealth of experience to solve some of the midfield problems the club is facing. At Camp Nou, it is believed that the French will arrive for free.
Youssoufa Moukoko’s shock decision not to renew with Borussia Dortmund could see him end up at Barcelona as a free agent. The young German forward is expected to boost Barcelona’s attack and create competition and room for squad rotation.
Moukoko is also expected to be the heir to Robert Lewandowski, who’s brought quality to Barcelona’s frontline.
Head coach Xavi Hernandez wants to enhance the squad rotation. Despite having Koundé and Araújo, the Spaniard sees the need for a new defender.
