Barcelona pre-season friendlies 2023: fixtures, schedule, date, and venue
Barca had a successful season as they lifted the Spanish La Liga title for the first time since 2018–19. The club has seen significant changes in performance since the arrival of Xavi Hernandez.
What are Barcelona’s off-season games? Who are they playing as pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2023/2024 season approaches?
Here are Barcelona’s pre-season games;
Vissel Kobe vs Barcelona
Date: June 6th, 2023
Venue: Japan National Stadium, Tokyo.
Competition Type: Friendlies
Barcelona travel to Japan, where they’ll take on Vissel Kobe. The club features two former players, Andres Iniesta, and Sergi Samper.
The fixture would officially end the season for the Blaugrana and the first team squad after the season-ending fixture against Celta de Vigo.
Barca legend Andres Iniesta played twenty-two years at the club before joining Vissel Kobe and spent five seasons, winning the Japanese Cup and the Super Cup in 2019 and 2020.
Juventus vs Barcelona
Date: July 22nd, 2023
Venue: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California
Competition Type: Friendlies (2023 Soccer Champions Tour)
The Old Lady and the Blaugrana are two of Europe’s elite clubs. They will meet for the first time since July last year when they faced each other at the Cotton Bowl during the club’s tour of the United States.
The game ended all square as Ousmane Dembélé and Moise Kean both scored twice.
Juventus had a mixed season which saw them finish outside European football following the federation’s decision to deduct accrued points, according to The Guardian.
Arsenal vs Barcelona
Date: July 26th, 2023
Venue: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, California.
Competition Type: Friendlies (2023 Soccer Champions Tour)
Arsenal and Barcelona will square up at the 70,240-seater SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as part of the Tour of the United States.
The two sides are meeting for the first time since 2019 in the Joan Gamper Trophy final that ended in a 2-1 defeat of the Gunners. However, the last time in competition football was a 3-1 victory for Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 second leg.
Arsenal missed the Premier League title in the last-gasp slip, which saw them lose the title to Manchester City. It was a disappointing campaign, but the Gunners would expect a different outcome in the new season.
Real Madrid vs Barcelona
Date: July 29, 2023.
Venue: AT&T Stadium or Cotton Bowl
Competition Type: Friendlies (2023 Soccer Champions Tour)
A second consecutive El Clásico in the United States, Barca will face off against the Los Blancos at AT&T Stadium or Cotton Bowl stadium. The last meeting in the States ended in favour of Barcelona courtesy of Raphinha’s goal.
Real Madrid missed the title and will look to bounce back in the new season.
The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 4-1 win for the Los Blancos, who went on to win the Copa del Rey against Osasuna.
AC Milan vs Barcelona
Date: August 1st, 2023
Venue: Allegiant Stadium
Competition Type: 2023 Soccer Champions Tour
AC Milan and Barcelona, two European heavyweight teams, will meet at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. The 65,000-seater stadium is expandable to 71,835.
The two sides are not new on the global stage, as they have fans all over the globe, especially in the United States.
Recently, the two sides have not played each other on the biggest stage. The last time they met was on August 5th, 2018, in the International Champions Cup, which ended in a 1-0 win for the Italian club.
