The Australian A-League Men is a professional soccer league in Australia and New Zealand contested by 12 teams.
The 2021/2022 season will be the 45th season of the A-League and the 17th since the establishment with the new format in 2004.

4. Macarthur FC

Founded in 2017, the club was admitted as an expansion team.

Macarthur FC qualified for the Elimination Finals after finishing sixth at the end of the regular season.

5. Melbourne City

Melbourne Victory is one of eight A-League Men original teams. Victory is regarded as one of the most supported in Australia.
In terms of trophies, the club is also one of the most successful in the division having won the four A-League Championships and three A-League Premierships.
The Victory also won the FFA Cup once in 2015.

Victory finished rock bottom of the league last campaign in a turbulent season even as the club recorded an all-time low performance.

7. Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets is another Competitive side in the division.
The club has won one A-League Men Championship.

8. Perth Glory

Perth Glory is one of Australia’s most successful soccer teams having won two Championship as well as four old National Soccer League titles.

Glory did not qualify for the playoffs last season after finishing ninth at the end of the regular season.
Changes are expected to be made in all areas as the new season draws closer.
9. Sydney FC

Sydney FC is Australia’s most successful soccer team. Sydney FC is one of the eight original A-League teams.
The club won five A-League Men Championships and four Premierships, as well as one FFA Cup.
Prior to Australia’s move to the AFC, Sydney FC won the Oceania Champions League in 2005.
Since then, Sydney FC has established itself as a strong force in the league and have consistently qualified for the playoffs.

Sydney FC finished second at the end of the A-League Men regular season last campaign and qualified for the playoffs.
In the semi-final, Sydney edged past Adelaide United but could not win the title as Melbourne City produced a stunning performance to claim the A-League double.

10. Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix is the only A-League team that operates outside Australia.
Wellington Phoenix is a New Zealand based Professional soccer club.
The club’s highest achievement so far was an Elimination Finals appearance in 2010.

11. Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers along with Sydney FC are the two major Sydney based teams in the A-League Men.
Currently, Western Sydney Wanderers is the only team from Australia to have won the AFC Champions League in 2014.
Wanderers was a major force but began to face dwindling form.
Western Sydney Wanderers inaugural season in the A-League Men was record-breaking as the club won the A-League Premiership but lost in the Grand Final.
The club won the AFC Champions League in 2014 as well as Achievements sixth place in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup.

12. Western United

Western United is one of the new Australian A-League teams.
The club along with Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory are the three Melbourne based teams in the top flight.
