Brazil Série A Champions Atlético Mineiro, otherwise known as Atlético-MG, is the best football club in the world according to the rankings released by IFFHS for January 2022.

The IFFHS, which releases an annual list of the best football clubs in the world, will now begin to rank teams across the globe monthly based on performance and achievements within the timeframe.

Atlético Mineiro won the 2021 Brazilian Football Championship to end their 50-year wait for a league title. 

According to ESPN Brasil, the new IFFHS monthly ranking considers the competitions between February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022. 

As per the rankings, Atlético-MG earned 297 points with the Campeonato Mineiro, Campeonato Brasileiro, and Copa do Brasil titles. Three other Brazilian football clubs, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Athletico-PR, fell into the categories of the best football clubs in the world.

Surprisingly Dutch football giants Ajax Amsterdam are second while French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain sit tenth on the list for January and February.
