Ancelotti approves Real Madrid’s search for Thibaut Courtois back up as Andriy Lunin’s departure looms
It is clear that Real Madrid is looking for a reliable backup for Thibaut Courtois with three names on the table, and head coach Carlo Ancelotti has given an all-clear to the club’s top hierarchy.
Andriy Lunin is looking to leave the club in the summer as he struggles to make the starting lineup. The Ukrainian has been under the shadow of Thibaut Courtois and wants to guarantee himself a first-team role.
Although Madrid Universal reports Real Madrid could ignore Carlo Ancelotti’s request for a new backup goalkeeper in the summer, the club has already identified three potential signings.
According to Fichajes, here are the three Andriy Lunin replacement and Thibaut Courtois new backup goalkeeper options in the summer;
Fernando Pacheco
Fernando Pacheco is an experienced goalkeeper who plays for Espanyol, who was recently relegated to the second division. The 31-year-old could be heading for the Santiago Bernabéu.
David Soria
After an impressive performance at Getafe, David Soria could move to the Santiago Bernabéu. But La Liga is unwilling to let him leave and believes it is their best option.
Stole Dimitrievski
The North Macedonian could be offered the opportunity to play at Santiago Bernabéu next season. The 28-year-old plays for Rayo Vallecano and is one of the best goalkeepers in the Spanish La Liga.
