According to the online portal Sports Pro, Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca led a group of US-based investors that acquired 55 percent of the club under its parent company known as La Dea S.r.l.

La Dea S.r.l currently owns over 86% of the club. According to the deal, the Percassi family would maintain a 45 percent minority stake.

Stephen Pagliuca is an American private equity investor and the co-owner of the NBA team Boston Celtics. He founded Information Partners Venture Capital Fund and has other investments in the United States.


Stephen Pagliuca has a net worth estimated to be in the region of $450 million. His investments cut across different verticals across the United States, including technology, media, financial services, and healthcare industries.


Stephen Pagliuca holds a stake in the NBA team Boston Celtics and looks to expand his ownership of sports branding, leading to the acquisition of Atalanta Bergamo.


Antonio Percassi

Following the 55% takeover by Stephen Pagliuca and his group of investors, Antonio Percassi only retained the remaining 45 percent stake in the ownership of the club.


Antonio Percassi is an Italian who is a former professional and an entrepreneur. He is a major player in the retail business in Italy.


He formed collaborations in the retail business with some of the biggest luxury brands in the country, including Guess, Nike, Swatch, Levi, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger.


Outside his investments in the luxury brands, he also ventured into the cosmetics market and was in collaboration with some of the top brands like Kiko Make Up Milano. Another partnership involving the entrepreneur includes the luxury clothing brand, Billionaire Italian Couture.

According to figures from Transfermarkt, Atalanta is valued at around €447.60m. The club has made significant progress over the years and is one of the most competitive teams in Italy and European football.


Atalanta Bergamo ownership history 

Atalanta was founded on 17 October 1907 and has over a hundred years of history in Italian football. It was founded by students of Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi, a prominent school in Bergamo city.


Although there is no clear information regarding the ownership structure in the early years of the club. However, Antonio Percassi became the president and the majority shareholder of the club.

Where does Atalanta play? 

Atalanta BC currently plays their home games at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, or Stadio di Bergamo, also known as the Gewiss Stadium for sponsorship reasons.

The stadium is located in Bergamo with a seating capacity of 24,950 seats. It has a field size of 120 m (130 yd) long and 70 m (77 yd) wide. The stadium was built in 1927 but has been owned by Atalanta since 2017 after the club purchased it.

It plays host to games involving Atalanta, the youth team, and some selected matches of the Italian National Team.
