Borussia Dortmund return to Bundesliga action with a trip to the WWK Arena to face FC Augsburg in a crucial decided and much awaited debut of Erling Haaland.
Haaland completed his move from Red Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund ending weeks of speculated move to Premier League outfit Man United for a projected fee of £50M after showing flashy lights in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Haaland debut for Dortmund ended in a disappointing loss to Mainz 05, but the loss won’t be used to judge his performance since it was just a friendly, although most Borussia Dortmund fans expected magic from him on the day.
Haaland born in Leeds England, joined Red Bull Salzburg last year from Norwegian Eliteserien side Molde, making 39 appearance and scoring 14 goals in the process. Joining Salzburg, the Norwegian have only featured 16 times, scoring 17 goals in the process.
What a record and what a player he is. Haaland is expected to bring out his best form to Dortmund even as Lucien Favre expects a different outing this season.
His goal scoring record is what led to United’s pursuit for him but could not hand his signature at the end, leaving Dortmund to capture him with a small fee. Haaland however told reporters he joined Dortmund because he feels it is the best place to be at the moment.
Coach Lucien Favre is expected to start Erling Haaland against FC Augsburg at WWK Arena even as Dortmund hope to improve on their goal scoring record in the league and in all competitions.
